Public Safety Reports
An employee of the Good Ol’ Country Buffet at 1597 Vernon Road discovered a loaded gun inside the woman’s bathroom just before 8 p.m. on Thursday night.
The employee told LaGrange police officers the firearm was sitting on top of a toilet paper dispenser, the report stated.
Police discovered the Silver North American Arms INC. .22 pocket revolver was fully loaded, according to the report. Officers took the gun from the restaurant and secured it in the weapons box inside the LaGrange Police Department.
Later that night, a woman walked into the police department to report the lost weapon, according to the report. She allegedly told officers she laid the gun down on the dispenser and forgot to pick it up again when she left the restroom.
LPD warned the owner of being reckless with her weapon but did turn the gun back over to her.
Arrest
Investigators with the Troup County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man earlier this week for allegedly stealing a car.
Jacky Shon Wilson, 39, of LaGrange, reportedly took the truck in 2016, officials stated.
The vehicle was valued at $10,000.
Wilson was in the Troup County jail as of Thursday awaiting a bond hearing.
Man allegedly attacked by ex-girlfriend
A man told LaGrange police his ex-girlfriend assaulted him outside his home in the SunRidge apartment complex just after 1:30 p.m. on Thursday.
The man said as soon as he answered his front door, the woman grabbed him and began punching and scratching him, according to the report.
LPD officers noticed the victim had fresh wounds to his neck and chest area, the report stated.
The man said he was able to escape and ran back into the house to call 911, the report read. The woman then allegedly left the scene.
If she is arrested, the ex-girlfriend could be charged with battery, police said.
LPD helps stranded woman
Officers with the LaGrange Police Department came to the aid of a woman stranded in LaGrange with no transportation and no place to stay.
The woman flagged down a LPD officer just before 11 p.m. Thursday night in the parking lot of the Marathon gas station at 1740 Lafayette Parkway.
She told police her car broke down in Los Angeles, California and she had been hitch hiking with truck drivers across the country for the past three days, according to the report.
The woman claimed she was trying to reach her family in Augusta and only had enough money to purchase a bus ticket. The bus did not leave until 11:30 a.m. on Friday and the woman had no place to stay, the report stated.
Officers used money from the department’s petty cash fund and helped the woman rent a hotel room for the night until she could catch the bus to Augusta.
