Edward Joseph Patrick Smyth, age 85, of LaGrange, Ga., passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2013, at the Roosevelt Warm Springs Institute for Rehabilitation in Warm Springs, Ga.
Mr. Smyth was born July 30, 1928, in Yonkers, NY, the son of Edward Joseph Patrick Smyth, Sr., and Christina Rose Finnegan Smyth. He was a U. S. Marine Corp Veteran of World War II and the Korean War, and was retired since 1984 from Grumman Aerospace. He was a very gifted, artistic individual; being self taught, he enjoyed creating art from objects, and also possessed beautiful penmanship. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Martin and a grandson, Bobby Dabov.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara A. Smyth of LaGrange; a daughter, Christina Calhoun and her husband Rodney of Whitesville, Ga.; a son Roger Smyth of New York; three grandchildren, Zachary Calhoun, Brook Skaggs, and Jessica Smyth; three great-grandchildren, Josh Skaggs, Paige Skaggs and Alec Parrish.
