West Point police are looking for a man they say snatched money from a cash register at a local convenience store Thursday evening.

According to a press release, a black male entered a convenience store in the 1900 block of Highway 18 at about 6:45 p.m. and acted as if he was going to purchase a drink. When the male noticed that the store was not crowded, he approached the cashier and placed a drink onto the counter where the cashier proceeded to ring up the drink. When the register opened, the male then lunged over the counter and grabbed money from the cash register before fleeing the scene in a black 2010 Nissan Versa displaying a Georgia tag and drove east onto Highway 18.

The suspect is described as light-skinned male in his mid-40s, 5 feet 11 inches, approximately 150 pounds, brown eyes, black hair and a low hair cut with a receding hair line. He was wearing a white colored shirt with a brown design on the upper left portion of the shirt, black pants, and white tennis shoes at the time of the robbery.

If you have any information on who the suspect is, please call the West Point Police Department Criminal Investigative Division at 706-645-3551 or Crime Stoppers at 334-756-8200.
