Competing at the Region 4-AAA cross-country meet on Saturday in Carrollton, the Callaway Lady Cavaliers raced to a second-place finish to qualify for state.
Chapel Hill had five finishers in the top 10 to capture the championship with 18 points.
Callaway, which had two girls finish in the top 10, had 64 points to out-distance Correta Scott King (96 points) and Jackson (108 points).
Leading the way for Callaway was Taylor Townsend, who finished fourth with a time of 24 minutes, 28 seconds.
Sierra Jones (24:51) was close behind in sixth place.
Michaella Phillips (25:41) earned a 13th-place finish, and Mackenzie Scott (26:53) was 20th, with Devin Scott (26:58) rounding out the top five with a 21st-place finish.
Also for Callaway, Tatiyana Jenkins (28:44) was 29th, and Megan Scott (28:52) was 31st.
In the boys’ race, Chase Drake (21:41) led the way for the Cavaliers with a 30th-place finish, and the rest of his teammates all finished with 30 seconds of him.
Timothy Neal (21:43), Carter Dagenhart (21:56), Andrew Thomas (21:56) and Thomas Spader (22:01) were 31st through 34th, respectively.
Tyler Neese (22:08) finished 38th, and Matthew Pike (22:08) was 9th.
Chapel Hill won the boys’ race with 16 points, followed by Central-Carroll (50), Rockmart (68) and Callaway (155).
The state meet is Saturday in Carrollton.
