Was it cold this morning? Yep, plenty cold.
The mercury fell to 21 degrees at LaGrange-Callaway Airport, tying the record set in 1963.
It also was the lowest temperature in the state, equaling readings in Thomson, Rome, Peachtree City and Cartersville.
But the unseasonably cold weather is over, at least for a few days. Highs in Troup County are forecast in the mid-60s Friday and lower 70s through Monday. Lows will rise from the upper 30s tonight to the lower 60s Sunday.
But then the mercury begins to dip again, reaching 30 Monday night and into the 20s Tuesday and Wednesday nights.
There’s a slight chance of rain Friday and Saturday, with a greater chance Sunday.
Normal extremes for this time of year are 64 and 39.
A record low of 23 was set in Athens on Wednesday, breaking by one degree the old record posted in 1911. And Macon’s low of 27 tied the record set in 1987.
