The Lafayette Christian School Cougars overcame a slow start to beat Skipstone 51-35 on Thursday at home.
The Cougars trailed 15-7 in the opening quarter, but they got within two on a 6-0 run to close the period.
The Cougars were up 24-21 at the half, and they built that lead to 41-28 after three periods.
David Curry paced the Cougars with 15 points, and he also pulled down seven rebounds.
Aaron Dixon added 13 points, and he also had five assists and four steals.
Caleb Corban had nine points, all on 3-pointers, and Chaz Benefield had six points and played stellar defense according to head coach Rene Gomez said.
Gomez said Corban’s outside shots were big, because it allowed the post players to get better looks at the basket.
“They have to extend their defense,” Gomez said. “It opens it up for everybody.”
On Tuesday, Lafayette Christian fell to Solid Rock 48-43.
Curry had 15 points to lead the Cougars, and Dixon scored 11 points.
