Perry Keith didn’t give Luella a chance.
On Monday afternoon, Keith was on the mound for the Callaway Cavaliers, who were hosting the Luella Lions.
Keith, a junior right-hander, delivered an outstanding performance to help Callaway (4-1) capture a 5-1 victory.
Keith only gave up two hits and two walks, and he struck out nine.
“He was in control the entire game,” Callaway assistant coach Ashley Summerlin said.
Keith was aided by a defense that didn’t commit an error, and Summerlin said the infield defense was superb.
“We’ve really been harping on our infield play. We didn’t have an error on the infield today,” Summerlin said. “That’s pretty good considering that we’ve made some errors in the past. They’ve stepped up and worked their butts off, and they didn’t have an error today, and that’s a real positive.”
Nick O’Berry and Dylan Johnson each had two hits for the Cavaliers, and Courtney Laye and Cody Mimbs had one hit apiece.
Johnson had two RBIs, and O’Berry knocked in one run.
The Cavaliers will host Sandy Creek on Wednesday, and they’ll be back at home on Friday for their Region 4-AAA opener against Douglass.
