The tennis balls will be flying this weekend.
The 23rd Granger Invitational, which is hosted by LaGrange High, will be held today and Saturday at tennis courts across the area.
There will be 40 schools represented, and there will be 80 teams in all.
Matches will be held at facilities in Troup County, Heard County, Harris County, Meriwether County, and for the first time, the invitational will cross the state line with matches being held at the Valley (Ala.) Sportsplex as well.
Among the teams participating will be boys and girls teams from LaGrange and Callaway.
All four of those teams will be in action today.
LaGrange’s teams, who are both participating in Division II, will play their matches at the McCluskey Tennis Center.
The LaGrange boys’ team will take on Dalton, and the LaGrange girls will play Union Grove, with both matches set to begin at 2 p.m.
Both LaGrange teams will play second matches later this evening.
The Callaway boys’ team is playing in Division II, and it will get its tournament under way when it plays North Hall at 3:30 p.m. today at Callaway Gardens.
Callaway will play again at 5:30 p.m.
The Callaway girls’ team is playing in Division III, and it will face Dunwoody at 3 p.m., and that match will be played at Callaway High.
The tournament continues Saturday morning, leading up to the championship matches.
The title matches in Division I and Division II will be held at 3 p.m., and the Division III championship matches are at 10 a.m.
All of the championship matches will be held at McCluskey Tennis Center.
