A group of people fired shots at a party about 1:30 a.m. Sunday at Pop’s Party Place in the 1300 block of Lafayette Parkway.
While en route to the scene, officers saw a four-door sedan speeding away from the building. They reported then seeing over 100 vehicles leaving the driveway of the business at a high rate of speed and people running from the location, according to the report.
While talking with people at the scene, nobody could confirm the identities of the shooters, but all witnesses said several people had fired the shots.
As police entered the main door of the business, they walked into a large empty room filled with marijuana smoke, and the room was trashed with scattered items, according to a report.
Officers spoke with four males and a female who said they were acting as security for the party at the time of the shooting.
Police spoke with a juvenile at the party who saw most of the shooting. He told police that all the gunshots took place outside of the building and there were at least four shooters. According to the report, he could not provide descriptions of any of the shooters because they were too far away and he was trying to run for safety. However, he believed they were in a mini van of some sort.
According to the report, the witness saw one shooter on the far side of the parking lot and another shooter at the front edge of the parking lot.
In the canvas of the scene, police found five .45 caliber shell casings in the main parking lot and on the inside of the main room of the building, a .380 caliber was found laying in the middle of the room.
There were no reports of injuries.
