Police are investigating three unrelated robberies that occurred over the weekend.
Police responded to West Georgia Medical Center Saturday at approximately 6 p.m. where a man reported he was in the area of Glen Robertson and Kelley Street on his way to play basketball when two black males came up to him. One reportedly struck him in the head and the other jumped on him, according to police.
During the assault, the suspects allegedly went through his pockets and stole a cellphone valued at $500, a pair of ear plugs, $10 and a pair of LaBron basketball shoes, which he was wearing.
The first suspect was described to be about 5 feet, 6 inches tall, 140 pounds, wearing a white shirt and medium complexion. The second suspect was described as tall and skinny with long dreadlocks, wearing a blue shirt and a blue bandanna.
In a separate incident, officers responded to the 600 block of Snelson Street Sunday at approximately 1:48 a.m. in regards to an armed robbery attempt.
According to a police report, a cab driver for A Cab was sent to the location for pick-up services. When he arrived, a black male entered his vehicle and pulled a firearm and demanded money. The driver was able to push the gun away and the male exited the car and fled on foot.
The male is described to be about 6 feet tall and 160 pounds. He was wearing a blue hooded sweat shirt and possibly between the ages of 20 and 25.
A third robbery was reported Sunday morning at around 3:26 a.m. A man reported he was walking to Summit Gas Station in the 300 block of Commerce Avenue when a charcoal gray Nissan Altima stopped next to him. Two black males got out and asked if he had any money, according to police.
One of the suspects punched him in the left ear and the two began digging in his pockets and stole five dollars and his cellphone. The victim reported they knocked him over as they fled so he couldn’t see what direction they ran.
One of the suspects was wearing a black shirt with shorts and had a goatee. The other was wearing a white shirt, blue jeans and a brown hat. Both were reported to be in their mid-twenties.
All three cases are currently under investigation. If anyone has additional information, contact the LaGrange Police Department at 706-883-2603 or Troup County Crime Stoppers at 706-812-1000.
