Resurfacing on Country Club Road may begin later this week or the first of next week following weeks of utility work on the road.
LaGrange City Manager Tom Hall said at the closing of Tuesday's City Council meeting that the work will finish up on the project, which has disrupted traffic on the road for weeks.
“We have received a number of comments from our citizens,” Hall said. “What we're going to do is mill Country Club and repave it. It should look good as new.”
The work will move to Lakeshore Drive the coming weeks.
In another matter, Council approved setting a Aug. 12 public hearing for a rezoning at 0 Country Club Road from R-1 residential to a new R-8.5 residential zoning, to allow for smaller lots to build a 24-lot subdivision on the 7.85 acre plot owned by Synovus Trust Company.
Also, Council held a first reading for an ordinance to rezone three parcels on Robertson Street from general industrial to general commercial. Council is expected to vote on the ordinance following a second reading at its next meeting.
In other business Tuesday, Council heard updates from Sherri Brown of Circles of Troup County (video inset top left) and Carrie Brkich of Workforce Development Committee (video below) on those programs.
