Four small children were left inside a hot car while their aunt was inside Walmart.

According to the LaGrange Police Department, officers found the kids ages 4, 5, 6 and 10 in a 2004 black Infiniti I35 in the Walmart parking lot on Saturday afternoon. Officers say the windows were rolled down. When they asked the children how long they had been inside the car, they responded 10 to 15 minutes. The children also said they were with their aunt who had gone inside the store to buy bathing suits.

According to officers on the scene, the temperature was 95 degrees, with a heat index of 108.

Officers did find the aunt, who told them she knew it was hot outside and she should not have left the children inside the car. She was cited for parental responsibility (protection) for leaving children under the age of 6 inside the car without it running, and placing each child into a harmful situation.
