The Choral Society of West Georgia has announced its ninth season for 2014-2015.
The season will start with the annual Thanksgiving concert, “A Concert of Thanksgiving and Praise,” set for Nov. 22 at First Presbyterian Church in LaGrange. LaGrange native Tess Malis Kincaid will be the featured narrator for the concert, which has become a LaGrange tradition, said Artistic Director Bettie Biggs.
The first show of 2015 will be the Valentine’s performance, “Seasons of Love,” on Feb. 14. The LaGrange Civic Chorale again will team with the Fidelity Jazz Quartet for the Valentine’s night dinner, dance and concert at Highland Country Club.
Bel Canto LaGrange, a women’s ensemble, will host “Hot Women, Cool Jazz” for its season-ending concert April 11 in a tribute to jazz, especially arranged for women’s voices.
A kickoff party will precede the season on Aug. 24 at the home of Biggs at 4 p.m. All Chorale members, spouses, significant others and anyone who enjoys a good time are invited to the child-free afternoon of barbecue and friendship.
Rehearsals for the new season begin Aug. 28 and are each Thursday, starting Aug. 28, at 6:30 p.m in the chorus room at Troup High School. All singers are welcome in this community chorus.
The Choral Society of West Georgia is a 501(c)3 organization committed to choral musical excellence throughout West Georgia and East Alabama. Repertoire includes a wide range of stylistic choral selections from Renaissance to contemporary. Membership is available to individuals of any age.
