U.S. Renal Care held open house and ribbon cutting for its new LaGrange dialysis center and clinic on Thursday.
The facility is the second primary location for U.S. Renal Associates, whose five physicians branch out to see patients as far away as Warm Springs and Buena Vista.
“Our practice is actually very old,” said Dr. Rajeev Chauhan, one of the physicians for U.S. Renal Associates. “We’ve operated mainly in the Columbus area, but we were seeing so many people from the LaGrange market.”
That lead the group to branch out and open the LaGrange location, which also helps them serve their patients in other nearby areas, like Warm Springs. The business provides dialysis for regular patients and the clinic provides renal care and early detection of problems for those at risk of kidney problems.
The physicians see patients at home, at local hospitals and other clinics throughout the area.
Dr. Vinayak Ramanath will be the primary physician for the LaGrange location and moved to town about a month and a half ago with his wife and their 18-month-old daughter.
“I come from Birmingham, so this is smaller than I’m used to, but the people are friendly and I like the small-town feel,” Ramanath said, adding that he also appreciated the easy access to larger cities.
Along with Ramanath, two of the other physicians will be on a rotating schedule at the location.
“This will be the second hub for us to channel through,” said Dr. Raj Alappan. “… We go to wherever the patients are, instead of waiting for them to come to us.”
Ramanath said the group is currently taking appointments. The U.S. Renal Care LaGrange Dialysis Center is located at 1300 Lafayette Parkway, building D, and may be reached at 706-882-2800.
