The mobile apps, which are free through the iTunes and Android app stores, feature such information as Crime Stoppers alerts about a particular neighborhood, reminders of Neighborhood Watch meetings, advisories about inclement weather, major traffic alerts, and photos of missing or wanted persons. Confidential Crime Stoppers tips can be submitted with the iPhone app.
“With our new mobile apps, the Troup County Sheriff’s Office is now more accessible for you when you need us,” Sheriff Donny Turner said.
The mobile apps contain a greeting from the office, its mission statement, location information and app guides, along with live feeds from the sheriff’s Facebook page, Crime Stoppers podcast/radio broadcasts, the sheriff’s YouTube gallery and more.
“We are the only sheriff’s office with its own app in the iTunes app store,” said sheriff’s Sgt. Chad Mann. “We’re the first in the nation to use an app for public info, podcasts, video and audio feeds, and crime tips.”
