Funeral services for Rachel Pauline Pinkard Smith, age 84, of Roanoke, AL will be held Tuesday, January 31, 2012, at 2:00 pm from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Revs. Bobby Overton, Jody Overton and Howard Longshore officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Home Christian Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 5:00 to 8:00 pm.

Mrs. Smith died Saturday, January 28, 2012, at Traylor Nursing Home.

Survivors include two daughters, Judy Pinkard of Roanoke, AL and Mavis Hall (Earl) of Roanoke; three sons, Larry Pinkard of Ringgold, GA, Willis Pinkard (Jeanelle) of Lanett, AL and Rudolph Pinkard (Patsey) of Roanoke; one brother, “Skinny” Lewis of Roanoke; 23 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be “Goose” Pinkard, Chris Pinkard, Buck Pinkard, Chuck Pinkard, Kevin Pinkard, Matt Pinkard, Anthony Swinford and Kyle Ragan.

A lifelong Roanoke resident, Mrs. Smith was born March 15, 1927, daughter of Frank and Lula Costley Lewis. She was a member of Center Chapel Baptist Church and had been employed with Wehadkee Yarn Mills. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Pinkard; a son, Buddy Pinkard; three grandchildren, James Pinkard, Shane Pinkard and Christopher Pinkard; and four brothers.
