The old saying is that if March comes in like a lion, it goes out like a lamb. But what if it comes in like a polar bear?

That scenario is on tap as frigid nighttime temperatures welcome the new month, with the mercury falling into the 20s with some of the coldest weather of the season.

West Georgia can expect a low of 27 tonight, with readings in the mid- to upper 20s through Sunday night. Highs are forecast to be near 50 Friday and the mid-40s Saturday and Sunday.

There’s even a slight chance of snow and rain Saturday morning, followed by breezy conditions and sunny skies Sunday.

More seasonable temperatures should return Monday.

Normal extremes for this time of year are 63 and 35.
