A man was arrested on charges including trafficking cocaine after a vehicle he was riding in was stopped on Interstate 85.

According to a sheriff’s report, Troup County Sheriff’s Sgt. Nathan Taylor stopped a tan Honda Accord Friday on I-85 for an improper tag light and failure to maintain lane. After investigating the vehicle, he observed that passenger Javoris Taylor, 29, of Montgomery, Ala. had what appeared to be marijuana residue on his clothing. Marijuana odor was also detected in the vehicle.

During a search of the driver of the vehicle and Javoris, Sgt. Taylor discovered about three ounces of cocaine concealed on Javoris Taylor and a loaded Taurus 9 mm pistol was under his seat, the report said. The pistol was reported stolen out of Montgomery. Javoris Taylor allegedly admitted to ownership of the cocaine and the stolen firearm.

Javoris Taylor was arrested and transported to the Troup County Jail and charged with trafficking cocaine, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and theft by bringing stolen property into the state.
