Another Granger Invitational is in the books.

The 22nd edition of the tennis tournament wrapped up on Saturday on a picture-perfect day.

Boys’ and girls’ champions were crowned in three divisions, and the LaGrange High teams made solid accounts of themselves.

The Lady Grangers went 1-2, but they lost a pair of close matches while competing against elite teams in Division I.

The Grangers, playing in Division II, went 3-1 and came within a whisker of earning a spot in the championship round.

In the semifinals, LaGrange lost to Dunwoody 3-2.

It was, LaGrange head coach Kenny Moore said, a successful weekend.

“We got a lot of compliments on our community. A lot of people love coming to LaGrange,” Moore said. “And I appreciate a lot of people coming out and watching.”

In Division I, Westlake beat North Cobb to claim the boys’ title, and Blessed Trinity handled North Hall to win the girls’ championship.

In Division II, Dunwoody’s boys’ team beat Madison County in the championship match, and North Cobb won the girls’ title with a win over North Hall.

North Gwinnett won both Division III titles.

As for the LaGrange teams, Moore felt it was a beneficial experience.

“It was a really good weekend for our boys and our girls,” Moore said. “We have some young kids on both teams that gained some confidence, and got a lot of experience. It’ll serve them well as we move on in our region.”
