Troup soccer coach Peter Anderson kept waiting on the ball to go in the net.

During the early portion of Friday’s soccer match against Central-Phenix City, the Tigers had all sorts of scoring chances, but they were unable to convert.

“We had 10 opportunities in the first 20 minutes to put the ball in the net, and we just didn’t do it,” Anderson said. “They must have had a cover on it or something.”

Central, meanwhile, was able to find the net en route to a 3-0 victory.

“It was just one of those nights,” Anderson said.

In the girls’ game, meanwhile, the short-handed Lady Tigers lost to Central 7-1

Head coach Jase Crenshaw said there were only 12 players available, including six freshmen.

A number of other players had to miss the game for various reasons.

Crenshaw said we “did our best with what we had. It was a tough one.”

Rebecca Rensenhouse scored Troup’s only goal.

Troup’s teams will return to action on Tuesday for a Region 5-AAAA doubleheader at Fayette County, with the girls’ game starting at 5:30 p.m. and the boys’ game to follow.
