A soccer net isn’t 50-feet wide, but it had to seem that way to Callaway’s Kyle Jenkins on Tuesday.

Jenkins notched six goals to lead Callaway to a 10-0 victory over visiting B.E.S.T. Academy in a Region 5-AAAA game.

The Cavaliers (7-1 overall) moved to 4-0 in the region.

Jenkins is one of the Cavaliers’ leading scorers, and he played the part on Tuesday.

“I just want to score every time I get out there,” Jenkins said. “Today, I was playing better. I don’t really know why. I was in the zone.”

It took the Cavaliers awhile to get going, but once they started scoring, they didn’t stop.

“The first 20 minutes of the game was kind of rough,” Callaway coach Jake Hembree said. “We couldn’t move the ball that well. Once we settled down and focused, we were able to move the ball at will and just control the game with no problem.”

The game ended when Noah Hill scored with a little more than four minutes remaining, bringing the mercy rule into play.

“That’s our freshman, Noah Hill. He’s tried, and tried and tried (to score),” Hembree said. “It was good to end on a good note like that.”

Also scoring goals for Callaway were Chase Drake, Cameron Spinks and Tyler Neese.

Callaway now turns its attention to Friday’s home showdown against cross-town rival Troup.

The girls’ teams will play at 5:30 p.m., with the boys’ game to follow at 7:30 p.m.

“We have to go to work. We’ve got Troup Friday,” Hembree said. “But I’m proud of our guys. We’re getting there.”
