LaGRANGE — Brittany Koone, a communications officer for Troup County E-911, was named the Troup County employee of the month for February during Tuesday’s County Commission meeting.
She has worked in the E-911 department for almost four years answering 911 emergency and non-emergency calls.
“Her job entails treating each and every request for service with the appropriate response and urgency required, upholding the integrity of the agency and keeping in mind that her reaction, response or disregard could greatly affect the safety and lives of others,” states a written commendation from her co-workers. “She acts as the invisible first responder, and although unseen, she is heard, and has time and again done her job to best of her ability in the service of others. Brittany maintains confidentiality of any information or data gained while on duty and continually shows common courtesy and respect to the public, co-workers and all agencies we dispatch for or have interaction.”
Koone was commended for her positive attitude and objectivity in treating all people and situations, and her professional representation of the 911 department. Co-workers said she always makes ethical decisions in the best interest of the department, responding medical and public safety officials, and residents.
“She shows genuine concern for persons in crisis and does her best to calm him/her, dispatch help and reassure the person that help is on the way, and will remain on the line whenever necessary to ensure that person knows someone cares and a unit is in route to help,” states her written commendation.
