Performers to host fundraiser for photographer with MS
Musicians, dancers, actors and storytellers host “Photographs and Memories” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, a benefit show for long-time Lafayette Society for Performing Arts photographer George Czarnonycz, who suffers from multiple sclerosis. Proceeds from the show will go toward helping Czarnonycz’s family purchase a handicap-accessible van. The benefit will feature scenes from the play “Lovers and Other Strangers,” a performance by the LSPA’s ballet company, local band Regeneration, students from Troup and Harris County high schools performing songs, storytelling by Carol Cain with musical solos. The event will also feature a slideshow of some of Czarnonycz’s photographs. Tickets are $25 and may be purchased from the LSPA by calling 706-882-9909.
Krawfish for Kids to benefit Boys & Girls Club
Krawfish for Kids, featuring Louisiana-based food, along with children’s activities, raffles and music by Charlie Muncaster, is set for Saturday at 5 p.m. at Nutwood Plantation to benefit the Boys and Girls Club of West Georgia and the Southern Food Alliance, a nonprofit based at the University of Mississippi’s Center for the Study of Southern Culture. United Way Merry Market
The fifth annual Merry Market is Oct. 22–24 at the Callaway Conference Center at the West Georgia Technical College campus on Fort Drive. Merry Market is a three-day event featuring gifts, accessories and decorative items by vendors from across the country. As a major fundraiser for the United Way of West Georgia, Merry Market provides funds for early learning in Troup County.
