Holiday meal in need of donations, volunteers

Organizers of the Up all Night annual Christmas dinner are seeking food and cash donations to feed people in need. Items sought are hams, turkeys, drinks, canned vegetables, cranberry sauce, dressing, macaroni and cheese, plates, cups, carry-out containers, napkins and plastic cutlery. Donations may be dropped off at the following locations:

• Lakes-Dunson-Robertson Funeral Home, 201 Hamilton Road.

• Good Seed Christian Books, 205 S. Greenwood St.

• WJCN TV station, 220 Fort Drive.

• WTRP AM 620 radio station, 806 New Franklin Road — non-perishable items only. Organizer Jake Sessions will be at the station 3–7 p.m. daily to accept food drop offs.

Salvation Army seeking bell ringers

The Salvation Army is seeking volunteer kettle bell ringers for the Christmas season to solicit funds for local programs. Two-hour shifts are available for ringers, generally between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., six days per week. Supporters sought to adopt ‘angels’

The Salvation Army is seeking people to adopt an angel from the Angel Tree. The angels contain a child’s first name, clothing size and wish list of toys for children whose parents have indicated a basic need. Others interested in helping also can help bag all the donated toys Dec. 19 and help distribute them Dec. 21. LifeSouth blood drives

LifeSouth will host the following blood drives in the area:

• Warm Springs Medical Center, 11:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m. today.

• Dollar Tree, 137 Commerce Ave., 11 a.m.–5 p.m. today.

• Walmart of Roanoke, Ala., 11 a.m.–5 p.m. CST Wednesday.

• Walmart of Valley, Ala., noon–5 p.m. Thursday.

• Home Depot on Lafayette Parkway, 1 p.m.–5 p.m. Saturday.

• Walmart of Roanoke, 11 a.m.–4 p.m. CST Sunday.

Drivers needed for disabled veterans

The Disabled American Veterans van needs volunteer drivers to take veterans about once a month to VA medical centers. The van goes to Atlanta, East Point and Newnan each Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, and to Central Alabama Medical Center in Tuskegee on Tuesdays and Fridays. Volunteer drivers must be at least 19 years old, have a three-year clean driving record and pass a complete physical exam, which is provided free by the VA hospital. Care baskets for breast cancer patients

The Troup County breast cancer support group, Breast Friends for Life, is in need of new or gently used baskets. BFFL makes gift baskets for newly diagnosed breast cancer patients. Baskets need to have a handle. No Christmas or Easter baskets. Baskets may be dropped off with Wanda Lowe at Enoch Callaway Cancer Center, 111 Medical Drive next to West Georgia Health. Center seeking donations for clothes, money

The Yolanda Jabaley Clothing Center is seeking volunteers and gently used clothing donations, and new packages of socks and underwear for men, women and children. Money donated to the center is used to buy new underwear and shoes. The center is open 10 a.m.–noon Tuesdays and 1–3 p.m. Thursdays.
