Prevention event, town hall on tap

LaGRANGE — The Alcohol Prevention Project and Troup County Prevention Coalition are teaming for a free event Monday.

The groups will host the Strengthening Communities Educational Town Hall Meeting, slated for 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Mike Daniel Recreation Center, 1220 Lafayette Parkway. The event will include a group discussion on substance abuse prevention, suicide prevention, mental health assessment, intervention and treatment for children who display at-risk behavior.

The meeting is open to the public, and the groups are encouraging mental health providers, counselors, educators, caregivers, daycare providers, parents, law enforcement and youth to participate.

Featured speakers on tap are Seth Harden, Dr. Denice Colson and Mandy Hill speaking on topics that include substance abuse, suicide prevention and mental health issues.

Doors open for registration at 4:45 p.m.
