LaGRANGE — Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., Theta Nu Lambda chapter, presents its annual Teen Pregnancy Workshop on Thursday.

The men of Theta Nu Lambda Chapter are making final preparations for the annual event, scheduled for 5 p.m. at the Alpha Multipurpose Center in the old Cannon Street school, 115 E. Cannon St.

Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. has sponsored the Teen Pregnancy Workshop since 1982. That year, Gov. Joe Frank Harris presented the Men of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. a plaque in recognition for the outstanding contribution they had made to Troup County and the west Georgia area, fraternity officials said.

The speaker for this year’s program will be Zsa Zsa Heard, executive director of the LaGrange Housing Authority, and Chris Brown of Columbus.

The will also be four concurrent workshops: “Problems Related to Teen Pregnancy” by Faye Gilliam, “Preparation for College Life” by Willie Maddox of LaGrange College, “Bullying and Gangs” presented by the Troup County Sheriff’s Office and “Underage Drinking” by Veronica Dowell.

Parents and students are invited to come and participate in the program.
