LaGRANGE — The LaGrange Art Museum will once again celebrate spring with Art N’ Bloom, a benefit luncheon that combines fresh floral arrangements and the fine art that inspired the arrangements.

This year’s event, a floral interpretation of the museum’s permanent collection, and luncheon is set for Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Del’avant Event Center. It will feature “The Artists Among Us,” three speakers who will describe how the creative process and art have enriched their lives and contributed to their achievements.

“In searching for ‘the artists among us,’ committee co-chairs Nanci Lechacz and Connie Boccucci wanted to find women who represented a mix of generations and worked in a variety of art mediums,” said museum Executive Director Karen Anne Briggs. “I think they have found a wonderful representation of the arts and the artists in this community, and I hope they continue to honor the unique artists among us each year.”

Honorees this year will include Janis Kish, former museum board member, floral designer and artist who has been a longtime patron of the arts and is credited with founding Art N’ Bloom in LaGrange.

Amy Orr, artistic director of the Lafayette Ballet Company, and Callie Knight Hammond, director of the LaGrange Symphony Youth Orchestra String Ensemble, are also honorees. Each of these women have made a significant contribution to the creative landscape in LaGrange and to young lives, said Briggs.

“We’re very excited about this event,” said board president Bobby Cammon, “The response so far has been tremendous. We are thrilled that this is now an annual event, and that this year it had taken a truly unique and creative turn.”

The museum relies on support from individual donors for nearly 25 percent of its annual budget, according to Briggs.

“Our fundraisers allow us to provide meaningful cultural programs and stimulating exhibitions throughout the year, securing the museum’s vitality for future generations,” she added.

Tickets are $40 each and may be purchased by calling the art museum at 706-882-3267.

A luncheon of chicken paillard with lemon herb sauce, Caesar salad and haricot vert will be served by caterer Jeffrey Tucker.

A red Kitchen Aide Mixer has been donated for raffle by Jabalay’s Paint and Appliance. Raffle tickets are $10 each and are available for advance purchase and available at the event.

A silent auction, featuring numerous items donated by local businesses and artists, will take place at 10:30 a.m. prior to the luncheon itself.
