LaGRANGE — Storyteller, actress and retired educator Carol Cain recently entertained attendees to the Parkinson’s Support Group meeting at WellStar West Georgia Medical Center.

Cain has been the emcee of the Azalea Storytelling Festival in LaGrange for 10 years and was a featured teller in the 2015 Azalea Storytelling Festival.

“For one hour we want to be entertained and we don’t want to think about Parkinson’s,” said Tony Jones, president of the support group, as he opened the meeting.

Cain kept the group laughing and relating to her personal stories of family and growing up in a small town. She also spoke about one of her sisters, Wanda Lowe, who is WellStar West Georgia Medical Center’s cancer care navigator.

The Parkinson’s support group is free and open to the community and meets monthly on the third Thursday of each month at 4 p.m. The meetings are held at WellStar West Georgia Outpatient Rehabilitation & Wellness.
