LaGRANGE — Live music and local art will be part of the festive scene planned for Friday, May 13, in downtown LaGrange at the annual Hydrangea Festival Sip & Shop.

Downtown merchants will extend their shop hours into the evening and will offer specials sales, complimentary gift wrap and new spring merchandise. The event is set for 5 to 9 p.m.

There is also a wine tasting opportunity at many of the merchant locations for adults making a donation of $25, which will benefit the LaGrange Symphony Orchestra’s Youth Strings program. Anyone interested may register for wine tasting at the Chamber plaza the evening of the event, or register prior to the event at downtown businesses Bradley’s Antiques, Elliebelle’s, J Perry Boutique, Marketplace at Lafayette Square, Plum Southern, Stephen’s Exclusives, Tournesol, Whimzey, Ye Olde Red Door Antiques and ZuZu’s Petals.

Members of the LaGrange Symphony and Youth Symphony will perform as street musicians at the Hydrangea Festival for the third year in a row.

Works of art by Mary Sumners, Mary Fields, D.J. McElvy, Jeanine Bradfield and Thea McElvy, all members of the Visual Artists Alliance of LaGrange, will be for sale at the Chamber plaza Friday evening.

Elms & Roses Garden Club council members will also be at the plaza to take orders for six varieties of hydrangeas that thrive in the local climate: nikko blue, bloomstruck, ruby slippers, silver dollar, phantom and munchkin hydrangeas. Prices range from $18 to $27 per plant.
