LaGRANGE — Firefighters with the Troup County Fire Department kept their cool while standing out in the heat to raise money for the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation.

The group took part in the annual Give Burns the Boot drive on May 26 through May 28, stated Troup County Fire Deputy Chief Kevin Norred. Firefighters split into teams and used their work boots to collect cash and coins at the Piggly Wiggly at Lee’s Crossing, Food Depot on Hogansville Road and Love’s Truck Stop off exit 28 in Hogansville.

This year the firefighters, through the help of the community, were able to collect more than $2,840, Norred said.

“Funds collected support the Burn Foundation’s mission of providing fire safety and prevention education, supporting burn treatment facilities and assisting burn survivors during their recovery, Norred explained via email. “We support this event because it supports burn victims and education in our communities.”
