Three face drug distribution charges

LaGRANGE — Three people face multiple drug charges after police served a search warrant at a home in the 100 block of Gallant Street just after midnight Saturday.

The warrant was the culmination of a monthlong investigation into allegations people were selling various drugs from the residence, states a police press release. Three people were inside the home, police said, they were identified as Laporscha Maddox, 26, Xavier Edmondson and Walter Maddox, both 27.

Officers allegedly found 100 grams of crack and powder cocaine, about 50 Xanax pills, 70 Percocet pills and an undisclosed amount of marijuana in the residence.

Officers also found a gun allegedly belonging to Edmondson, who is a convicted felon, states the press release. A “large sum” of cash was also found in several areas around the home, said police.

The three suspects were each charged with trafficking cocaine and marijuana possession. Edmondson also was charged with obstruction, participation in a criminal street gang and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Walter Maddox was also charged with possession of Schedule 2 and 4 drugs with intent to distribute for the Xanax and Percocet pills in the residence.

All three suspects were being held at Troup County Jail.
