Gardens to host July 4th events

PINE MOUNTAIN — Callaway Gardens is hosting three days of beach activities culminating with a fireworks show on the Fourth of July.

Each day will feature events for all ages, including a DJ and bands like The Chris Collins Band, Saturday at 5 p.m.; Daniel Lee Band, Saturday at 7 p.m.; Final Answer, Sunday at 5 p.m.; The Regulars Band, Sunday at 7:30 p.m.; and the Swinging’ Medallions, Monday at 7 p.m.

The Florida State University Flying High Circus performs Saturday at 8 p.m., Sunday at 3:30 p.m. and two special shows on Monday, July 4th, at 3:30 p.m. and 6 p.m.

A sand castle competition is Saturday with prizes awarded. Saturday at dusk, there will be a skydiving demonstration by the Silver Wings, the U. S. Army’s Command Exhibition Parachute Team.

On Monday, Robin Lake Beach will be ready for an Independence Day celebration. The patriotic fireworks finale will shoot off at about 9:30 p.m. — weather permitting.

There are also free activities at Robin Lake Beach, like Aqua Island, paddle boats, waterskiing, tubing, wakeboarding and lessons, rock climbing wall, spider jump, the Xcelerator four-story inflatable water slide and a flying trapeze.

A limited number of beach umbrellas with chairs are available for rent as well as semi-private cabanas overlooking Robin Lake Beach. And there are the traditional Robin Lake Beach games of miniature golf, table tennis, shuffleboard, giant chess and checkers, and attendees may bring a disc golf set to try the beginner’s disc golf course.

Special event admission applies Saturday to Monday. Saturday and Sunday admission is $25 per adult; $12.50 per child, ages 6 to 12; and children five and younger are free. Annual passholders are admitted for free. Monday, July 4th, special event admission is $30 for adults; $25 for seniors, ages 65 and up; $15 for children, ages 6 to 12; children 5 and younger are admitted for free. Tax is additional.

Annual passholders and military personnel with valid active duty or retired identification can enter the special event for half price. Veterans also are admitted for half price.

Admission includes access to the Gardens attractions from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and beach activities until they close each night. On Monday, Robin Lake Beach gate will open at 7 a.m. until the fireworks finale.

The Robin Lake Beach entrance is on U.S. Highway 27.
