LaGRANGE — Comedian Jeff Foxworthy has agreed to donate $10,000 to the THINC College and Career Academy, with half of the money budgeted toward a proposed science lab.
Members of the THINC board of directors met Tuesday to discuss the proposed science lab along with other project ideas. The budget for the science lab is estimated around $500,000.
“We are excited to accept a donation of $10,000 from Jeff Foxworthy,” said Kathy Carlisle, CEO of THINC. “When Mr. Foxworthy heard about THINC College and Career Academy, he eagerly pledged his support to provide Troup County students the skills to launch their future career and college goals.”
The proposed science lab is planned to include a combined classroom and lab. It will be able to accommodate 28 students.
The plans for the lab include seven work stations that will have sinks, water and gas fixtures as well as electrical and data outlets.
Several other area industries have agreed or are anticipated to contribute donations to THINC. All or part of their contributions will go towards the proposed science lab if board members elect to take on the project.
