One man’s trash turned into a treasure trove for LaGrange police investigators and narcotics agents trying to arrest a wanted man inside a car on the Morgan Street Bridge just after 2 p.m. Wednesday.

As a police officer stopped the car, he stated in his report that he saw the front passenger window come down and a white object fly out of the window.

The officer handcuffed the driver and the passenger, who had an active arrest warrant.

According to the report, an investigator and another officer searched the vehicle and found a prescription pill bottle that contained 10 suspected Xanax pills. The driver stated the pills were his and that he had a prescription for them, but could not produce any documentation, the officer said.

The driver, Danny Keith Lynch, 41, also admitted to throwing the plastic baggie out the passenger side window.

Officers arrested Lynch and charged him with unlawful possession of Xanax and littering.

The passenger, Christopher Owens, was also taken into custody on the active arrest warrant for a felony probation violation.

Investigators said they were granted consent to search Owens home in the 500 block of Hines Street, where they found more Xanax pills in a contact lens case.

According to the report, they also found a prescription pill bottle with someone else name on it and four pills inside that were suspected to be Clonazepam, prescription drug, along with a mini digital scale with a white substance on it.

Owens was charged with two counts of possession of a schedule IV drug and possession of a drug related object.

Resisting arrest

One man decided not to go down without a fight and took off when LaGrange police tried to arrest him on an active probation violation Wednesday around 2 p.m. on Revis Street.

The officer said as he attempted to contact the suspect, the man started to run.

According to the officer, he gave verbal commands for the suspect to stop, but he kept running. Other police officers soon joined the foot chase and quickly took the man into custody.

The suspect was charged with resisting arrest, in addition to the active probation violation.

Stolen Car

A Troup High School student told police Wednesday he believed his friends played the ultimate prank on him — but quickly realized someone had stolen his white 1997 Toyota 4Runner from the school parking lot some time during the day.

The student told a LaGrange police officer he parked in the yellow-zone parking lot at 8 a.m., left his keys in the middle console of his vehicle and locked all the doors except his driver door. When he returned to the lot at 3:20 p.m., his car was gone.

Police are investigating.
