WEST POINT — Detectives with the West Point Police Department are searching for two suspects who robbed a convenience store at gunpoint about 9:45 p.m. Wednesday.

The clerk of the West Point Food Mart at 900 E. 10th St. told West Point police she was restocking drinks in the cooler when two men rushed in the front door wearing Halloween masks.

The clerk stated one of suspects had a silver handgun, but the clerk said neither man ever said anything to her or point the gun at her.

She was not hurt in the incident.

According to officers who later watched the robbery on store surveillance footage, the suspects came into the store, ran behind the counter and grabbed the cash register, along with the clerk’s purse, before running out of the front door. One of the suspects dropped the victim’s purse as he ran out.

The manager of the business told police $945 was inside the register at the time of the robbery. He also said the cash register is a cream-colored, Sharp brand valued at $1,000.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the West Point Police Department at 706-645-2226 or Crime Stoppers at 706-812-1000.
