LaGRANGE — A shed containing motorized equipment was damaged after it caught fire about 2:45 p.m. Friday next to a home in the 100 block of Wilcox Road.

Troup County Fire Capt. Gene Hogg said when firefighters arrived on scene, the structure was fully engulfed in flames.

TCFD crews quickly put the fire out, but Hogg said a bass fishing boat, an ATV and a John Deere mower were destroyed.

According to Hogg, a neighbor spotted the blaze and called 911.

There were also reports of gunshots in the area, but the sound was actually the tires on some of the equipment exploding in the flames, Hogg explained. Another shed nearby did contain some ammunition, according to the homeowner. The fire did not reach that structure.

No one was hurt in the incident.

The cause of the blaze was under investigation Friday afternoon.
