LaGRANGE —A local student took first place in the state in the Daughters of the American Revolution American History Essay Contest.
The LaGrange DAR Chapter met at Bellevue on Tuesday to honor the chapter’s winners of the contest.
Libby Criswell, who was the local eighth grade winner, also placed first in the district judging and came in first in the Georgia DAR American History Essay Contest, according to a press release from the DAR. She will be honored at the DAR State Assembly on March 12 in Augusta.
Her sister, Milly Criswell, who was the local fifth grade winner, won the local contest and placed first in the district competition. The district competition consists of about 20 DAR chapters and the first place winner locally is entered into the district competition.
