Police: Man shot after morning argument

LaGRANGE — One man was injured and another was in custody shortly before 10:45 a.m. Monday after a shooting at a home in the 300 block of Whitesville Street.

The injured man, a 24 year old, was taken by ambulance to West Georgia Medical Center on Vernon Road with a gunshot wound to his abdomen, according to LaGrange Police Lt. Dale Strickland.

The victim was unconscious when he was taken from the scene, according to LPD Sgt. William Nelson. He was flown by helicopter to Grady Memorial Hopsital in Atlanta, according to Troup County 911.

Further information on the victim’s condition was unavailable at press time.

Police took another unidentified man into custody for questioning and police recovered a firearm at the scene, Strickland added.

Strickland said the two men may have been involved in an argument before the shooting. He did not elaborate on what the argument may have concerned.
