LaGRANGE — A Lanett, Alabama, man escaped with minor injuries after his van flipped Tuesday on Interstate 85 near Hamilton Road.

The 62-year-old driver was northbound in a 1992 Ford Aerostar when his left rear tire “blew out,” he told a Georgia State Patrol trooper, according to a preliminary report. The driver pulled hard to the right and lost control of the van.

The van began to tip over and then flipped at least three times as it left the road and landed on its side, the report states.

The driver complained of injuries and was taken by ambulance to West Georgia Medical Center, where his condition was unavailable this morning. Firefighters on scene described the victim’s injuries as cuts and scrapes.

Georgia State Patrol was investigating the wreck.
