Bridge game lessons to benefit Bellevue
The LaGrange Woman’s Club hosts a third session of basic bridge lessons beginning today at Bellevue. People entirely new to the game of bridge as well as those who want to use Standard American bidding strategies – The Five-Card Major system – are welcome. Classes meet 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Thursdays for eight weeks at Bellevue. Cost is $75 per person for the series of lessons. Anyone interested may call 706-882-9655. Proceeds go to Bellevue.
Church to host yard sale
Loyd Presbyterian Church, 550 Glass Bridge Road, hosts a yard sale from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday at the Community Building. Proceeds will fund Christian Education and Outreach projects.
Sickle Cell Support Group hosts 5K
Sick of the Cycle Inc. Sickle Cell Support Group will host a 5K Road Walk in West Point on Saturday at 10 a.m. The group is seeking individuals to participate in the walk and volunteers. Golf tournament to benefit March of Dimes
The March of Dimes / Diverse Power Golf Tournament will be held Sept. 12 at The Fields Golf Club. Lunch provided by Longhorn will be served at noon and the shotgun start is at 1:30 p.m. This is a four-person scramble. Motorcycle ride, swap meet to benefit CASA
CASA - court appointed special advocates - hosts the I Am for the Child Benefit Ride sponsored by Blue Knights GA XVIII at Baptist Tabernacle Church, 849 S. Davis Road, on Sept. 13 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Ride is $20 and includes lunch. Kick stands up at 10:30 a.m. Food, vendors, activities, raffles, a swap meet and door prizes at the event. CAFI hosts fundraiser yard sale
Community Action for Improvement - CAFI - hosts a fundraiser yard sale on Sept. 27 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the parking lot at 1380 Lafayette Parkway. West Point Lake Coalition raffle to funds buoy lights
The West Point Lake Coalition is selling raffle tickets to raise funds to maintain, replace and possibly add more solar-powered buoy lights to the lake throughout the year. The grand prize is $1,000 worth of Shell gas cards, with a second prize of $500 worth of gas cards and a third prize of gas cards totaling $250. Tickets may also be purchased in person at the LaGrange-Troup County Chamber of Commerce. Cost is $5 each and participants must be at least 18 years old. The last chance to buy tickets is Sept. 23 and the drawing will be Sept. 30 at the West Point Lake Coalition annual board meeting.
