Alleged child molester arrested

Investigators with the Troup County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit arrested Letarrius Scott, 31, of LaGrange, after receiving a complaint he was reportedly molesting a child.

Officials conducted a full investigation, took Scott into custody and transported him to the Troup County Jail, stated officials.

Scott is charged with one count of child molestation. He remains in the Troup County jail and a bond has been set, stated investigators.

Man tries to flee from police

A man was arrested after he attempted to run from police and was also caught with drugs in his pants pocket, according to LaGrange police.

Officers were responding to a disturbance about 6:20 p.m. at the Dollar General at 200 Colquitt St. when they found one of the suspects inside, who they said was avoiding them.

The officers learned the man had a warrant and when they attempted to arrest him, he allegedly grabbed one officer’s arm, pushed away from him and took off running.

The suspect was quickly apprehended, stated police. When officers searched him, they found a baggie containing a white substance inside one of his pockets. The substance tested positive for cocaine, states the police report.

The man, identified as Jakevius Lamar Green, 22, of LaGrange, was charged with obstruction and felony possession of cocaine.
