A man pulled over for a suspended license ended up with more charges after LaGrange officers found suspected drugs inside his car about 1:30 Thursday morning on Lafayette Parkway near Kia Drive.

The driver immediately got out of his car and told police he did not have a license, according to an officer’s report. After officers handcuffed him and asked the driver if they could search the car, he allegedly told them the vehicle was not his and whatever was inside the car was not his.

Police said the driver finally granted consent and officers located a clear plastic bag containing suspected cocaine under the front driver’s seat.

The driver was charged for driving on a suspended license and violation of the Georgia controlled substances act.

Woman reports car stolen

A woman told police that she returned home from work Wednesday to discover someone had stolen her car.

The victim told LaGrange police she had parked her red 2011 Toyota Camry in the driveway of her mother’s home on Sirrine Street. She told officers she left for work with her sister about 9:15 p.m. Tuesday and when she returned Wednesday morning at 7:15 to retrieve it, the vehicle was gone.

The victim told police the car was unlocked and there was an extra set of keys in the center console.

Police were investigating.

Woman accused of shoplifting girls’ clothing

A woman used a Kool Aid bar code to fraudulently ring up almost $150 worth of clothing from Walmart on Wednesday, according to store employees.

A loss prevention officer at the store told LaGrange police officers that she watched the suspect enter the store, take the young girls’ clothing and go to the self-checkout register. The employee said the woman also purchased some food items, including multiple packs of Kool Aid. The employee told officers she then watched the woman use the Kool Aid bar code several times to ring up the clothing items.

Employees confronted the woman as she left the store, and LPD officers arrested her on charges of theft by shoplifting.
