A man drinking on the front porch of his home in the 100 block of Daniel Street said two men began fighting him for no reason about 10:30 p.m. Saturday.

The man told police he got into an argument with a woman he lives with at the house. The victim told officers a name of one of the men he believes attacked him.

During the fight he was cut with an unknown object above his left eye, he told police.

Police said West Georgia Medical emergency room doctors told them the laceration would need at least 15 stitches.

The LaGrange Police Department Criminal Investigation Section was investigating the incident.

Car with guns, ammo outruns checkpoint

LPD officers were looking for the driver of a white Hyundai Accent that drove through a safety check point, smashed into a parked car and then fled Sunday evening.

Police said it happened during a traffic checkpoint at the intersection of Ragland and Greenville streets.

According to officers on the scene, the car came through at a high rate of speed and refused to stop.

The report stated the car then turned onto Ragland Street into the oncoming lane of travel, accelerated at a high rate of speed, ran up on a curb and turned onto Louise Street, where it struck a parked Ford Ranger pickup truck.

Police observed suspects running from the scene and set up a perimeter with a K9 unit.

Officers said they found a handgun magazine lying in the passenger floorboard and 69 rounds of ammo strewn throughout the car, plus three cell phones.

In the backyard of a home in the 10 block of Louise Street, officers stated they discovered a loaded handgun lying in the grass and a few rounds that appeared to have been dropped by one of the occupants.

Police were still investigating the incident.

Burglaries

A woman told police she came home Saturday afternoon around 5 p.m. and noticed her 50-inch Hisense LCD TV was gone. Police said they noticed fresh pry marks on the door frame and deadbolt of the home located in the 100 block of White Oak Drive. The TV was valued at $450.

• A man discovered his black 9mm Taurus gun was missing from his bedroom inside his home in the 800 block of Troup Street. He told police it had been gone since Thursday, although he didn’t report it until Saturday. The gun was valued at $360.
