A male called LaGrange police Monday afternoon to report being robbed at gunpoint nearly two days after the incident occurred.

The man told officers he waited because he thought he would be able to get his property back on his own.

According to the victim, the incident happened just after 6:30 p.m. while he was walking north on Elm Street.

He told the officer as he approached a curve in the road, three males came out of a home. One of the suspects, whom he knows, grabbed him from behind at the intersection of Elm Street and Park Avenue, he said. A second suspect put a handgun in his face and told him to “give it up.”

According to the victim, the two males removed his wallet and cell phone from his pocket then ran off.

The case was turned over to detectives with LPD’s Criminal Investigation Section.

AT&T store burglarized

LaGrange police detectives are also investigating a burglary at the AT&T store located at 380 S. Davis Road.

The manager told officers it happened sometime between Sunday at 6 p.m. and Monday at 9 a.m.

According to the manager, it appeared someone pried open the front door, disconnected the alarm system, loaded stolen merchandise in trash cans and left through the rear door.

He also told detectives the burglar entered a safe in the backroom and attempted to break into another safe unsuccessfully.

The manager stated it appeared mostly cell phone accessories were stolen.
