The Valleywide Christmas Parade drew thousands along U.S. 29 from Third Avenue in downtown West Point through Lanett, Ala., and to the Bradshaw-Chambers County Library in Valley, Ala., Thursday night.

Parade floats were judged in four categories: school, civic, business and church, with three places each. This morning, organizers said second and third places for each categories had not yet been tallied. First place winners were:

• Acts Academy of Valley, Ala., in the schools division.

• The Chattahoochee Fuller Center for Housing in West Point for the civic division.

• Timeless Antiques of Valley in the business division.

• Holy Family Catholic Church of Lanett, Ala., in the church division.

Parade Grand Marshal was Charles Story, former Lanett and Valley officer who also was the first Valley city manager and served 18 years as Chambers County, Ala., circuit clerk until his retirement.
