Update: Police nab two in attempted burglary, one escapes custody

LaGrange Police are seeking two people involved in an attempted burglary that occurred Wednesday, as one was not apprehended and the other escaped custody from the police station.
According to a police report, at around 11 p.m., officers responded to Traylor’s Pawn Shop in the 500 block of Greenville Street in reference to a burglary attempt in progress involving three unknown males.
The report said that officers arrived on the scene and apprehended two of the alleged burglars, later identified as Maurice Jackson, 24, of LaGrange and Damion Franklin, 23, of LaGrange as they attempted to run away.
The third burglar was not apprehended and got away. He was described as a black male, wearing all dark clothing and an Atlanta Falcons cap, with braided hair and light facial hair, according to the report.
According to a statement on the LaGrange Police Department Facebook page, while at the police department, Franklin escaped custody. Franklin is a black male and was last seen wearing a black toboggan, a black sweatshirt, and black denim pants. He has warrants for criminal attempt burglary and escape.
“He somehow managed to get out of his restraining device and was able to escape,” Sgt. Robert Kirby said. “This doesn’t happen very often. We are taking steps to make sure it doesn’t happen again.”
Jackson was charged with criminal attempted burglary.
