Whitesville Road Elementary School kicked off its annual Veterans Day program Thursday with the Parade of Heroes, where students, staff and parent cheered veterans as they walked the halls. Principal Ernest Ward, a veteran, welcomed a packed crowd in the school cafeteria for the dinner and presentation, saying the event was to honor those who have fought and died for the freedom everyone in America enjoys.

Former Whitesville Road Elementary students in the Civil Air Patrol Squadron GA-153 present the colors for the opening of the ceremony Thursday. The event featured performances by the fourth and fifth graders of the school, as well as the teacher choir and presentations by faculty.
