East Side Baptist Church, 1016 Mason St., hosts Youth Explosion with Vacation Bible School at 6 p.m. Tuesday to Thursday, followed by a Youth Carnival 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Youth Day celebration at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Tickets for the carnival are $1 each, or 10 for $6, and concessions will be available.

New Community Church hosts Career Connect, a free job search assistance and networking event, at 5:30 p.m. with representatives from local staffing agencies, colleges, businesses and industries. Admission is free. Career coaches from the Department of Labor Career Center, Troup County Works, LaGrange College and West Georgia Technical College will be available.

Lafayette Society for Performing Arts presents “The Drowsy Chaperone” at 7:30 p.m. Thursday to Saturday and Aug. 1 and 2 at 7:30 p.m. with matinee shows at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday and Aug. 3 at the LSPA Black Box Theater at 214 Bull St. Cost is $15 for adults and $10 for students. Call 706-882-9909 for tickets. The show is a picnic theater, with doors opening one hour prior to the show and attendees may bring food and drink. All food is requested to be put away by show time.
