LaGrange police arrested one West Point robbery suspect when responding to a fight in progress call Friday night.
A police report says that officers were dispatched to the 801 Whitesville Road about 6 p.m. in reference to a fight in progress, when Corporal Kelly Ligon observed a black male with a red mask on top of his head walk out of the location. Ligon recognized the male identified as Deontiaz, McKiver, 17, of Newnan, as having a warrant for his arrest from the West Point Police Department.
As McKiver was checked for weapons, officers noticed a strong smell of marijuana coming from McKiver, according to the report. McKiver admitted to having marijuana in the crotch area of his pants. The report noted that McKiver had multiple marks on the side of his neck and ear, which he said were caused by a fight between him and his girlfriend. McKiver’s hand also had a large amount of wounds to his knuckles and fingers.
After McKiver’s warrants from West Point police were confirmed, he was arrested and transported to the Troup County Jail. A clear bag of suspected marijuana was removed from his pants and he was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and participation in a criminal street gang.
In addition, he was also charged with aggravated assault, armed robbery, and discharging a firearm related to his suspected involvement in an armed robbery of a man in West Point Thursday.
Two additional suspects from Thursday’s incident Terrance Thompson, 29, of Fendig Street, and Sergio Barrett, 21, unknown address, are still at large and are to be considered armed and dangerous.
