Dorothy Kelly, president of the Troup County Historical Society, has announced that Sandra Deal, the First Lady of Georgia, will be visiting Legacy Museum on Main from 4:45 to 5:30 p.m Wednesday.


The public is invited to attend. “Afternoon Tea with the First Lady” is being held in recognition of Legacy’s current exhibit, “New Harmonies: Celebrating American Roots Music.” The Smithsonian exhibit is touring Georgia as part of a program sponsored by the Georgia Humanities Council and Deal is the honorary chair of the exhibit and its tour in Georgia.


New Harmonies has been on display in twelve cities in Georgia and LaGrange is the twelfth and final stop for the exhibit. The exhibit has several interactive presentations, plus listening stations to hear different kinds of American music and a variety of artifacts are on display as well.


New Harmonies will remain on display at Legacy Museum located at 136 Main Street until Dec. 3. The museum is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m Monday through Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Admission is free.
